The Position
Metalenz is seeking an Optical Applications Engineer to join our growing engineering team of expert technologists and researchers. In this position, your responsibilities will include conducting hardware testing, troubleshooting, and data acquisition for 3D sensing optical devices used in consumer electronics. You will play a crucial role in supporting both internal product development and customer support by leveraging an innovative range of optics and imaging technologies.
What you’ll do
- Plan, execute and document controlled data collection for imaging and emitting near infrared optical devices, including collecting images with a near infrared camera under various test conditions, or measuring optical power emitted by a VCSEL laser device
- Assemble, test, and troubleshoot evaluation kits hardware of imaging and emitting near infrared optical devices, for internal development and for customers
- Identify hardware, test or customer issues and contribute to their solutions
- Write test reports, and contributes to bill of material documentation, product specification, user guides and application notes documents
- Set up and maintain product demos and contribute to the creation of new demos
- Manage inventory, coordinate and track shipment of samples and evaluation kits
- Support hardware and occasionally software customer questions and track open action items
What you’ll need
- BS in Engineering, Optics, or Physics, or relevant field
- Experience in optics, testing, data acquisition, troubleshooting optical devices, optical sensors, cameras, optical emitters, or related hardware
- Knowledge of imaging optics, light sources, imaging metrics and radiometric metrics
- Knowledge of optical metrology, near infrared sensors and VCSEL laser devices and of polarization optics: a plus
- Hands-on experience testing with opto-mechanical assemblies, detectors and power supplies for optical devices, and other related hardware
- Ability to learn and use data acquisition software
- Excellent reporting and documentation skills, and problem solving skills
- General knowledge of basic electro-mechanical engineering: familiarity with operating oscilloscopes and detecting current or voltage, PCBs (printed circuit boards), concepts of thermal management
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks), soldering, and ability to write simple scripts in e.g. Matlab or python: a plus

The Position
We are seeking a skilled Semiconductor Wafer Processing Technician with a background in wafer fabrication and metrology to join our team. Reporting to the Metalenz Fab Manager, you will have the opportunity to be a part of the core group shaping the future of Metalenz and make significant contributions to our technological development.
What you’ll do
- Work with Metalenz process engineers in a shared user 100 clean room environment.
- Process glass wafers through multiple semiconductor fabrication and metrology steps.
- Record work on the electronic tracking system
- Create and track statistical process control (SPC) or control charts to highlight trends and potential excursions to the engineering team
- Visual and electrical inspection of wafers in-line during processing
- Ability to execute work with minimal supervision on assigned tasks
What you’ll need
- Minimum 10 years of hands-on wafer fab experience
- Experience with the following wafer processing techniques
- PECVD, RIE, Photolithography, Wet Etch, Optical Microscope, SEM, Ellipsometer, Dicing Saw
- Computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.

The Position
We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Quality and Reliability Manager with a strong background in bringing new products into production. You will have leadership responsibility for the company’s Quality function.
What you’ll do
- Improve and maintain Quality System (QMS) that embodies a balance of stakeholder interests. Ensure company alignment with standards for ISO, regulatory, etc.
- Establish compliance monitors and drive continual improvement activities and corrective actions (CAPA).
- Scope and support reliability stress evaluations to ensure devices’ lifetime robustness. Use knowledge of common standards (JEDEC, IEC, MIL) to improve product reliability practices.
- Ensure issue containment with root cause investigations that lead to effective corrective actions (occurrence, escape, and systemic).
- Manage customer complaints and returns (IQA failures, field returns, RMA requests, FA requests)
- Act as vendor Quality interface. Implement vendor audit procedures that align with Company and product needs.
What you’ll need
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- BS or MS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or related scientific or engineering field.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a semiconductor or optics quality and reliability role.
- Experience with tools such as 8D’s, 5S, FMEA, etc. Familiarity with Quality standards such as ISO-9001 and IATF-16949.
- Experience with semiconductor reliability stress methods and failure analysis techniques.
- Familiarity with Lean and Six-Sigma methods; belt certification is a plus.
- Experience with statistical analysis of production measurement data such as Cp, Cpk, and gauge studies. Familiar with common statistical analysis tools such as Excel and JMP.
